A Christmas Tree – Live or Artifical and complimented with a Warm Cider

Growing up we always had a live Christmas tree and I remember the fun and excitement of going to the Christmas tree lot and selecting the perfect tree.  When Mr. D and I married we had a live Christmas tree and shared the excitement of going to the Christmas tree lot with our daughter and selecting a tree.  After our daughter grew up and moved away, we decided to get an artificial tree and still have an artificial tree today.  The first couple of years I did miss the smell of that wonderful live tree in our house but now I don’t miss it at all.

A few weeks ago I realized many people in our area go to the nearby mountains of North Carolina and select their live tree.  I can’t believe that even though we have lived in this area since 1976 we never thought of doing that.  I can see where that would be a great family tradition.  Today, I am sharing from a book entitled Homemade Christmas that was published in Memphis, Tennessee with some of the proceeds going to the Toys for Tots Campaign.

First of all, here is a remembrance of the glow of a Christmas tree whether real or artificial.  I absolutely love the glow from the wonderful lights of Christmas.

Below I am sharing two recipes for beverages to enjoy in the glow of our Christmas trees.

I am always a little sad each year when we take our Christmas lights down because they have made our winter days a little brighter. I hope you have time during the season to sit in the glow of your Christmas tree with the special people in your life.  Thanks for stopping by.
