IT’S CHRISTMAS IN DIXIE

IMG_0022 - Copy

On this Christmas Eve, I am sharing two Christmas favorites of mine.  First of all, the picture above is of my side yard on Christmas Day three years ago.  We had a beautiful snow fall that started on Christmas morning and my husband and I could honestly say, we sat by the fire and savored the beautiful day.  It was our first ever snowfall on Christmas.  Yes, sometimes it does snow in some parts of Dixie on Christmas Day.

I love Christmas music from the Hallelujah chorus being sung in churches, the beautiful melodies played by symphonys and the fun songs including the Charlie Brown Christmas tunes.  One of my favorite Christmas songs is Christmas in Dixie by Alabama.  Alabama had the most beautiful blend of harmony on their songs and the words to the song express so much about beautiful Southern places. I am sharing their song, Christmas in Dixie two ways.  First of all, here is a link to the song on YouTube and it is worth the time to sit down for a minute with a warm mug of whatever and listen to their rendition of this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg81vGuZx7k

However, here are the words to the song and you can follow along as they sing it.  The bama boys wrote this song and it is sung with such sincerity.

Christmas in Dixie

By now in New York City, there’s snow on the ground

And out in California, the sunshine’s falling down

And, maybe down in Memphis, Graceland’s all in lights

And in Atlanta, Georgia, there’s peace on earth tonight

Christmas in Dixie, it’s snowin’ in the pines

Merry Christmas from Dixie, to everyone tonight

It’s windy in Chicago. The kids are out of school

There’s magic in Motown. The city’s on the move

In Jackson, Mississippi, to Charlotte, Caroline

And all across the nation, it’s the peaceful Christmas time

And from Fort Payne, Alabama

God bless y’all…We love ya…Happy New Year…Good night

Merry Christmas…Merry Christmas tonight

So from this Southern soul sister to each of you, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!   Thanks for stopping by.
