Three Reasons Why I Love Calling North Carolina Home:

(from 100 North Carolina Icons written by Michael Graff for Our State Magazine)

Sandhills – Southern Pines is the horse capital of N.C., Pinehurst is the golf capital, and Candor is the peach capital.  This ancient coastline has done some serious rebranding after it lost the beach crowd 25 million years ago.

Duke Chapel – Gothic-style, volcanic stone outside.  Three organs, 12,000 pipes inside.

82nd Airborne – They jump every day at Fort Bragg.  They jumped in Normandy.  They jumped in Panama.  And they’ll jump wherever we need them to jump.  Thanks, boys.

And that is three reasons why I love the State I am in!

  1. We’re proud to call North Carolina home too, although we are there only in the summer. Glad I found your blog. I’ll enjoy looking around. The village above reminds me of Main Street in Highlands, NC.

    • Sam, thanks for your comments and kind words about my blog. The picture is of downtown Mt. Airy but it represents so many places in North Carolina that I wanted to use it for that post. I have been to Highlands and remember what a beautiful place it is.
